Dr. Don Barnett grew up in Goliad, Texas on a small cow-calf operation, and attended Goliad High School. With a love for science, he went on to the University of Texas at Dallas, where he earned a degree in Biochemistry. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, Dr. Barnett taught High School Chemistry, Physics, and Biology in Victoria, TX. Looking to expand his education and passions, he pursued his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University.
Upon graduation, Dr. Barnett commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, serving in Texas, Cuba, and Colorado. He provided care for Military Working Dogs and Equines and pets of military families while working alongside regulatory officials within food safety and defense.In addition to his military work, he also moonlighted at a Small Animal and Exotic Emergency Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
At home, Dr. Barnett has a loving family with his wonderful wife, two daughters, and a dog named Rex. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor sports with his family such as running, hiking, ultimate frisbee, and pickle ball.
