Ultrasound
At Deason Animal Hospital, our veterinarians utilize diagnostic tools like ultrasounds to diagnose injuries and inflammation, as well as a way of taking an inside look at your pet’s internal system. Ultrasounds can help with soft tissue injuries and tendon injuries. This non-invasive imaging tool allows our veterinarians visualize your pet’s heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, and spleen, and other organs. This diagnostic tool can also visualize the heartbeats throughout your pet’s pregnancy.
An ultrasound works by sending high-frequency sound waves through the body of your horse. These sound waves bounce back forth and create a real-time image of your pet’s internal system.
Digital Radiology
Digital radiology is a safe, non-invasive method of visualizing and evaluating your pet’s internal organs, including their spleen, heart, lungs, kidneys, and even their bones! Also known as x-rays, digital radiology equipment gives our doctors an inside view of what is happening in your pet’s internal system. This diagnostic tool also allows our doctor see the size, shape, and position of your pet’s organs, something that is very important when performing any surgical procedure.
Digital radiology can be used to diagnose a variety of conditions including bladder stones, broken bones, chronic arthritis, spinal cord conditions, and much more.
Idexx Diagnostic (In-House)
At Deason Animal Hospital, we understand how important time is—especially when trying to help you pet. Our animal hospital offers our clients the convenience of having an in-house lab, where we are able to diagnose and treat your pet’s condition.
Our veterinarians can perform a variety of tests including blood work, urinalysis, fecal testing, and much more. Because our animal hospital features an in-house lab, urgent care situations are much easier to treat, allowing us to diagnose and treat your pet without having to wait for results to come in from an outside source.
Urinalysis
Urinalysis is a type of test that evaluates the physical and chemical composition of your pet’s urine. It is important for your pet to receive a urinalysis test, as it is a way of ensuring that your pet’s kidneys are functioning properly.
By performing this test, our veterinarians can also check how other organs in your pet’s internal system are functioning. When an urinalysis comes back with an abnormal result, it can mean that there is a kidney infection, or raises a concern with your pet’s urinary system. It could also mean that your pet may suffer from metabolic disease or diabetes. Performing a urinalysis test is a great way to ensure the overall health of your pet.
